DC is full of things to see and they are fairly well spaced out…..
Our first job was to find 2 bike boxes to pack our bikes for the home journey. These we found at The Daily Rider who kindly gave us 2 with the original inside packaging material.
Once we had returned these to our Airbnb we set off on foot to see the sights in Washington.
The Capitol is VERY impressive
The White House a little less impressive, and we weren’t invited in either…
We went to see the Washington memorial and the Lincoln memorial before going to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum.
This is less well organised than the Natural History Museum in London, but does house some very fine fossils and is particularly aimed at the younger generations with its didactic approach.
Washington is remarkably laid back and non-stressful, the traffic is fairly light and there are plenty of bike lanes, Really surprising compared to New York for example.
