Chanute to Pittsburg. 95.70km. 336m ascent. 4h19 ride time
As the heatwave continues we are also continuing to start at dawn
After a great evening and good rest at our Warmshowers host Rick Bushnell’s home with diner and breakfast included we were ready for another hot and humid day
Flat again but with more trees and less roadkill, the route was mainly on side roads with little traffic
We had about 45km to get to the next stop where we could get coffee and a refill of water before continuing to a church another 15km down the road where we could get bananas, biscuits, water and ice all provided by the good people from the church
Then on into Girard for more water and AC cooling
Our final destination was a motel in Pittsburg and we arrived at about 13h00 in 39C heat
Met up with a fellow cyclist Bill Jenson do it the TransAmerica Trail East to West and went to eat together so we could compare notes.
