Sheridan Lake to Scott city. 124.42km. 99m ascent. 4h10 ride time
You want flat, you get flat. Flatter than Holland today but we had a half decent tail wind so chain on the right (I don’t have a chain or a derailleur but the principle is the same). Biggest gear and full speed ahead
We left our climate controlled church hostel early to try to avoid the heat and catch the good tail wind after breakfast in the church
Afree about 20km we crossed into Kansas and got better roads. Oregon has had the worst roads so far with the cracks being closed together than any other state so far. 🤬
We wee well rested so today was more about getting to Scott City before the wind turned and it got too hot. Yesterday we drank far too little and we both drank about 3 litres on arrival at the church; so obviously we were dehydrated on arrival. Today we took more water and ensured we drank regularly and plentifully.
We had an average temperature of 38C and the maximum was 49C so drinking was paramount
Our overnight is the sports club in Scott City and we arrived early. Basic facilities but oilmen room is semi underground and cool. The main hall is roasting hot 🥵
