Baker City to Richland
Following 2 hard days in the saddle we needed a lighter load today to ensure we didn’t burn out so early in the trip
Just 70km and more descent than climb was the ride for today. Of course it did start with a little climb 🚵♀️
Because we basically only had a half day ride ahead we took a leisurely breakfast waiting for the bike shop to open
We needed the bike shop for several reasons:
1: Rich needed new tyres, not because they were worn out but because they had punctured 3 times in 4 days. He was running tubeless with sealant but the sealant let him down in the rain after 100km yesterday
2: My helmet was broken. The adjuster at the back had given up, probably from sweat and sunshine. I think it was about 6 years old so it had done its job
3: Stef needed new pedals. His left pedal was creaking and we didn’t want to end up with it failing
The Trailhead bike shop was great and had very reasonable prices
It was about 11:00 when we set off via the supermarket to stock up on provisions
We crossed the Oregon Trail near the top of our climb
Before cruising down to Powder River for a late lunch. And on into Richland and our motel
