Scott City to Ness City. 89.56 Km. 80m ascent. 4h15 ride time
We slept at the gym in Scott City which was $15/person so not expensive and they have showers, a microwave and a coffee machine. Not much else and it was roasting hot. 31C when we went to bed and 29C when we got up 🥵. Despite that I slept surprisingly well 😃
Headwind today 🤬 and it was a tough one but we did get to do 2 turns 😃. Really very little to see except our own shadow and the occasional oil pump
We met a couple on the road and they recommended the Derrick Inn hotel in Ness City; although not completely renovated, well barely renovated at all actually. The owner is doing it up himself after buying it last autumn so progress is slow but they are super motivated for cyclists and the AC works. It is over 40C outside so camping would mean another hot night which we don’t need
There were already 3 other cyclists going East to West so we could swap notes over a beer
Unfortunately the Skyscraper of the Plains is not open Sunday so we could not visit it, it is supposed to be a real highlight 😢
