Evergreen campsite to Riggins
Just a gentle climb before 70km of almost all downhill. We are making 2 short days to gather our power reserves before the BIG climb out of White Bird which takes us 980m
We had 10km to to where we should be able to get breakfast. Closed except the weekend but we had a tip from the lady we met in the supermarket in Council yesterday. ‘Knock real hard and tell her Helen says you have to feed them’.
Unfortunately the owner just laughed and said ‘No’.
That meant riding another 20km to New Meadows before we could get a bit to eat
We got good coffee and a breakfast sandwich (egg and sausage with the inevitable melted cheese in a croissant). We also picked up a muffin for lunch.
Lunch was just a stop on the road but we found a campsite next to the Little Salmon River with cabins and space for RVs. We knocked but there was no one there so we just borrowed a picnic table
After lunch just another ~20km to Riggins for a motel overnight and a good hot shower
Riggins seems to be a centre for rafting and salmon fishing with just 410 people living here there is a lot of choice of overnights and food, just what we needed after 2 nights camping
Time to do our laundry too
