Today I added a new reversing light to my Land Rover Defender. As any Land Rover owner will tell you, ALL original lights are, at best, feeble and rather useless.<\/p>\n


I have already changed the head lights (another post to follow for that). Today H4 bulbs are equivalent to candles on horse-drawn carriages, so I installed some LED aftermarket ones.<\/p>\n

I don’t have a Land Rover style connector so I have to adapt. \u00a0I also want to make it interchangeable new and old reversing light<\/p>\n\n

Threading the wiring down from the inside to the reversing light (a bit fiddly as I didn’t want to remove all the interior cladding.) PS the dust came with the Defender which was first registered in Spain.<\/p>\n

This is the new reversing light from Lazer<\/a>. Normal reversing light is 21W, this is 25W so I’mhoping I don’t need to add a relay.<\/p>\n\n\n

I looped the new wires through the old ones so it will be easy to swap them. As I pull out the original light , the wires for the new light are pulled out as well.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Obviously the seal for the wiring is not going to work so I will change the plug and attache it directly to the extension wire coming up from the original light.<\/p>\n\n\n

The wires are now sealable where they exit the roof, but I need to remove the joiners and attach the Deutsch<\/a> connector directly onto the cable. Luckily we use Deutsch at work so I will be able to do that later this week.<\/p>\n\n

I decided to put the light dead centre, just above the rear screen washer nozzle as I am very keen on clean symmetry and from there is will give a even light spread.<\/p>\n\n
